AN ANNUAL cycling fundraiser returned over the weekend with the event proving a success.
More than 230 cyclists of all ages and abilities made the most of the sun, joining in the Whitchurch Primary Pedal on Sunday, with participants tackling either a 20, 40 or 60-mile circuit through the North Wessex Downs.
Proceeds from the event will go to Whitchurch Primary School, which is currently undergoing substantial building work, and Mityana Projects Trust, a charity supporting the Team Uganda 2019 project, which will see Testbourne School students visit the country in October.
The event was organised by Friends of Whitchurch Primary School (FOWPS) which is working to raise an additional £50,000 needed to complete the internal works required at the Daniel Road school.
Victoria Rampton, chairman of FOWPS, said: “We have so enjoyed welcoming cyclists to the school today, the atmosphere has been brilliant.
“We need to raise a lot of money this year for the school and its events like these that make sure plenty of fun is had by all in the process.”
