BIRD flying displays, historical recreations, music and dance marked a conservation charity’s biggest fundraising event.
Hawk Conservancy Trust held its Flight event to transport visitors from 19th century British pastures to modern-day African plains, complete with a life-size War Horse-style elephant puppet roaming the charity’s very own Savannah Arena to entertain the assembled audiences.
By telling tales of birds of prey in British life to the current plight of endangered African vultures, the event sought to highlight the two key locations where the Hawk Conservancy Trust, which is based in Weyhil, is undertaking its conservation work.
Chief executive at the charity, Penny Smout said: “Once again our fantastic team and incredible resident birds of prey gave our visitors a spectacular and memorable evening.
“There’s really no better way to spread the word about these stunning creatures and I’d like to thank all our wonderful visitors who take them to their hearts and help us raise vital funds by supporting our events.
“If anyone missed this event but still wants to see our stunning flying displays, we have three every day and there are several more special events planned throughout the year.”
