AN ANDOVER-based business has stepped in to help a disability charity following a break in earlier this year.
A gamekeeper’s shed at Enham Trust was broken in to on March 28 with around £10,000 worth of machinery taken.
Around 20 pieces of equipment were snatched including strimmers, hedge cutters, chainsaws and leaf blowers.
And now Scientific Management International (SMI), dismayed to learn about the theft, has presented a “substantial donation” to the charity.
SMI helped implement enhanced security arrangements including a new CCTV system to ensure this type of break in will never happen again.
SMI’s head of people Catherine Jennings said: “We are a local company operating for over 25 years in Andover, so to hear about this happening on our doorstep was something we needed to help put right.
“Enham Trust are a fantastic charity and we hope other local businesses will take our lead and get also get involved.”
Nigel Sully, head of gardening enterprise, said: “We are overwhelmed with the generosity of SMI who have made a substantial donation following a recent break in.
“The equipment stolen was essential to our gardening enterprise, and this donation will enable us to strengthen our security and invest in new equipment, enabling us to continue providing a quality gardening service locally and supporting disabled people in employment.”
The donation is one of many that the trust has received since the break in.
The charity supports thousands of disabled people each year.
