HUNDREDS of pounds were raised and a great deal of tea was drunk at a much-loved shop’s tea party.

Leslie and Tim Francis of Enham Shop and Post Office held a Blooming Great Tea Party on July 30 in aid of Marie Curie.

The organisation was chosen as the store to become part of the Spar chain, which chose Marie Curie as its national charity.

The couple served up tea, coffee and cake, along with a tombola, and guess name of the giraffe, which were enjoyed by regular customers and friends and family.

During the day Tim also carried out a two-hour sponsored silence, which he successfully completed - despite people doubting he would.

Leslie and Tim said: “We had such a fun time yesterday [Tuesday] at The Great Blooming Tea Party raising funds for Marie Curie. Enham Shop and Post Office was full of supporters and doubters as Tim faced his two hour sponsored silence.

More than £600 was raised from the event.
