A FAMILIAR face is ‘looking forward to making a positive contribution to the town’ after joining the board of the Andover Business Improvement District (BID).

Amy Mellor, from David Mellor Jewellers, was this week revealed to be the newest addition to the BID board of directors.

Started in April of this year, the BID is governed by a board of directors drawn from its town centre members. Those directors fulfil their role in a voluntary capacity.

Amy brings with her a range of experience from the many hats she's worn at David Mellor Jewellers, where she is currently the company's marketing and business development manager.

Amy said: “I am delighted to have been asked to join the BID board. I think I bring positive experience to the board, particularly in marketing and consumerism whilst running a retail business.

“I’m also a millennial that has grown up in the technological era that has completely altered the way we shop and communicate. I’m a huge ‘shopper’ myself and understand what attracts my generation to towns, events and stores.

“I think the BID is really good for Andover and I look forward to being able to make a positive contribution to our town.”

Kevin Paterson, chair of Andover BID, added: “It is important for our board to be strong and effective in order to be able to support the BID manager in achieving the objectives that businesses have told us they want us to deliver.

“The board is also formed to provide strategic vision for the BID and although we are in our infancy, we have already made some significant achievements and are working on other exciting plans and initiatives for Andover town centre, I would like to welcome Amy Mellor to our board.”
