THE number of reported burglaries across Andover has been curbed since the start of the month, police say.

Officers confirmed on Twitter today (Friday) that there have been no such reports since the beginning of November.

It comes after October was marred by a spate of incidents across the town, with eight properties being burgled in the space of just six days at the end of the month.

An update shared via the Andover Police Twitter page read: “Last week we reported that we are actively investigating 8 house burglaries in Andover.

“Since the start of the month we have had no similar reports.

The first of the eight late October burglaries took place on Saturday, October 26, when entry was gained to a house in Longstock Close via the rear door. Jewellery and money was taken.

Between then and Thursday, October 31, further burglaries were reported at homes in Millway Road, Chestnut Avenue, Tovey Court, South End Road, Leigh Road, Conholt Road and Celtic Drive.

Earlier in the month, an Audi SQ2 worth over £37,000 was taken during a burglary in Farrs Avenue on the evening of Saturday, October 6.

It came after jewellery had been stolen from a house in Cummins Close on the same day.
