RESIDENTS of Andover are doing “extremely well” in following social distancing guidelines, according to police.
Officers have been patrolling the town today (Saturday) and say they did not encounter any gatherings of more than two people.
It comes after the government, police and local authorities urged residents to resist the temptation to leave their homes with the start of the Easter holidays this weekend and warm weather forecast for Sunday.
A message shared by Test Valley Cops on Facebook read: “PCSO Dunmall and PCSO Gardener have been here, there and everywhere today carrying out high visibility patrols.
“We’ve visited as many of our essential shops as possible, whilst making sure the big open spaces are kept from any groups and gatherings.
“We are pleased to report that we did not come across any groups larger than two people.
“Our Andover residents are doing extremely well with adhering to the government’s advice. We know it’s difficult with the good weather, but we need to keep doing what we’re doing.
“Remember… Staying home saves lives.”
