A FURTHER 17 patients have died in Hampshire after testing positive for coronavirus.
Latest figures released by the NHS today (Sunday) show that eight more deaths have been recorded by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester hospitals, in the last 24 hours.
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust recorded two more deaths on the previous day and Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recorded seven, bringing the county’s total to 17.
None were recorded in the Isle of Wight.
It means that the virus has now claimed a total of 132 lives in Hampshire.
Elsewhere in the south east, a dozen new deaths were recorded by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust and 14 were recorded by Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
A total of 81 new deaths were recorded across the region – roughly double the 41 reported yesterday.
Nationally, 555 new deaths have been recorded in England taking the total to 4,494.
The patients were aged between 33 years and 103 years old. NHS England say that 29 of them were aged between 35 and 95 years old and had no known underlying health conditions.
In the whole of the UK, 621 patients have died after testing positive for coronavirus, bringing the total to 4,934.
