TEN more people are confirmed to have died after testing positive for the virus in hospitals in Hampshire.

It brings the death toll in the county to 148.

Four more people died at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT), who run Basingstoke, Andover and Winchester hospitals, where the total is now 41.

Another two people have died at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, whilst there have been four more confirmed deaths in the last 24 hours at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. It brings the totals there to 30 and 77 respectively.

At Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, who run Frimley Park Hospital in Farnborough as well as hospitals in Ascot and Slough, reported nine new deaths, with the total there now standing at 82.

Nationally, 758 people died in hospital in England in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 5,655.

Patients were aged between 23 and 102 years old - with 29 patients, aged between 23 and 99, not having underlying health conditions.

Of the four patients that died at HHFT, one passed away on April 3 and three on April 5.
