A NEW training tool aimed at helping people achieve their fitness goals has been launched.

The MYZONE MZ-3 belts will be made available to members of the Basingstoke Sports Centre to track and monitor their workouts.

The investment by Basingstoke Sports Trust - the charity which runs the centre, in Festival Place - follows refurbishment of its two-storey mixed gym, Evolve; the addition of a virtual fitness studio in April and upgraded air-conditioning in the female gym in August.

The centre also includes two swimming pools, three squash courts, a main hall, health spa, café and jungle adventure play area.

MYZONE works using a heart-rate monitoring belt that sends readings to nearby screens and the app on mobile phones in real-time.

Through a series of personalised, color-coded tiles, members know precisely what heart-rate zone they are working in at any given moment during their workout, allowing them to put in the optimum effort required to obtain their best results ever.

This data is captured within the member’s online personal activity report, showing progression and how close they are to reaching their goals.

Sophie Hughes, health and fitness manager at the sports centre, said, “We’ve been looking for a training tool that helps our members get the very best out of their fitness activity and realise their goals.

“MYZONE is a simple and affordable way to do just that. People walk through our doors looking for results, and that’s exactly what MYZONE will help them achieve.”

This new technology also includes challenges and competition members can set for themselves, as well as having the opportunity to participate in challenges for the chance to earn prizes, all while improving their overall fitness.

Sophie added: “By giving you feedback on how intense your workouts actually are, it’s really effective at encouraging you to put the effort in. This ultimately leads to achieving the results you want, as well as getting full value out of your membership.”
