A RESIDENTIAL care home in Basingstoke has been lauded by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The Limes, in Beverley Close, was inspected unannounced by the healthcare watchdog on December 4 and 14 last year, and it was revealed on January 7 that the provider had been rated ‘good’.

The Limes provides accommodation and nursing or personal care for as many as five adults with learning disabilities.

The home, run by BLISS Residential Care Ltd, was rated ‘good’ in all aspects that the CQC inspect, including the safety, the effectiveness of the service, and the leadership.

Part of the report read: “People received personalised care from staff who had a good understanding of their needs.

“People were supported to follow their interests and staffing was arranged around people’s activities and routines.

“People were treated with dignity and respect and given privacy when they wanted time alone.

“People were supported to maintain relationships important to them and the provider worked in partnership with families to forge effective communication between parties.”

The atmosphere of The Limes and staff were particularly praised in the report.

It read: “The atmosphere at The Limes was caring and homely.

“People were comfortable in staff’s company and enjoyed spending time with them throughout the day.”

One area praised in the report was the way in which staff helped the residents with their food.

Each person living there followed a diet which was in line with their preferences and dietary requirements, and were encouraged to prepare their own food and drink with staff support, the inspectors found.

Care home operator BLISS Residential Care Ltd was contacted for comment about the findings.
