A FOODSERVICE provider in Basingstoke joined forces with s skills development programme for an employability day.

Bidfood, in Hamilton Close, hosted students from Hampshire and Berkshire on Monday last week to give them an insight into the world of foodservice.

The firm, with Dallaglio RugbyWorks, hosted various employment workshops to inspire future careers within the food and drink industry.

One of these included a build-a-burger competition with Bidfood’s chefs, and there were also interactive career sessions from employees across the business, from warehouse operatives to marketing functions.

The group also got an exclusive look around Bidfood’s warehouse, an insight into how the world of wholesale works, and what employment opportunities there are.

Talking about the initiative, Chris Walkden, general manager at Bidfood in Basingstoke, said: “We were delighted to welcome students from Dallaglio RugbyWorks to our offices and offer them an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes in the world of foodservice.

“Our industry is constantly evolving and it‘s key for us to create opportunities for the next generation of talent within our organisation and the industry in general.

“There is so much budding talent on our doorstep and I see it as part of my responsibility to support them where we can.”
