A WOMAN has been arrested as part of an investigation into distraction thefts in Basingstoke.
Officers received report of a distraction theft at a house in Trinidad Close, Popley.
A Gazette source said that the woman had been posing as an NHS worker and was asking people for money to help her get to Winchester.
During the incident in Trinidad Close, the woman stole a purse from the property.
The incident took place around 10.40am on September 9.
Police have also received reports of similar incidents in the Popley area, which are currently being investigated.
As part of the investigation, a 45-year-old woman from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and is currently in police custody.
