THREE ambulances in for servicing have been destroyed after a fire at a car garage, Hampshire fire service has said.

Witnesses heard explosions after the blaze ripped through Snows Peugeot garage in Aldermaston Road in Basingstoke last night.

In total, ten vehicles in for repairs were destroyed by the blaze.

The fire was extinguished shortly after 11pm. The cause is not thought to be suspicious, Hampshire police said.

Photographs at the scene show the shell of the vehicles following last night's fire.

Basingstoke Gazette:

A spokesman for Snows car garage confirmed no one was injured in the blaze. He told the Gazette: "Fortunately the fire was outside the building and occurred out of business hours with nobody on site.

"The fire brigade have declared the location safe, although naturally a full investigation will take place.

"There may be some small disruption however customers are urged to visit the business as normal for service, parts and car sales.

"The Houndmills site is shared with the recently opened Snows SEAT Basingstoke business which is unaffected.

"We’d like to thank the Police and Fire Services for their hard work and prompt actions that has kept our business and community safe."
