A TEAM of firefighters showed their job isn’t just about putting out fires when they helped rescue a horse from a stable near Basingstoke.

A crew from Basingstoke fire station joined other firefighters from Winchester, Lyndhurst and an animal rescue team to assist a 30-year-old horse called Tara, who was stuck on her side on the floor in her stable in Up Nately.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the stable at 10.15am on October 2, where a vet also attended to sedate Tara whilst crews moved her from the stable.

They managed to help Tara out of her stable and onto her feet in the paddock to be with her mother.

The crew remained with her until she was conscious and on all four legs again, staying at the stables until 12.55pm.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are pleased to say Tara is safe and well with mum.”
