A VICTIM of a car theft has been reunited with their stolen Kindle tablet after police arrested a man on suspicion of theft.

Hampshire Constabulary arrested a 36-year-old man of no fixed above on suspicion of stealing from a car in Popley on October 10. 

A spokesman for the force said the man was found with a Kindle Fire tablet, prompting a police appeal to reunite it with its owner.

In an update, Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that the tablet had been returned, and the man has been released under investigation.

 

A statement from Hampshire Police said: "A 36-year-old man of no fixed abode, who was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle in Ascension Close, Popley on October 10, has been released under investigation."

A further update on the Basingstoke Cops Facebook page said: "We have happily reunited the owner with their stolen device and the arrested person has been released while under investigation for the offence.

"We will continue to patrol the areas and extra have been arranged too."
