HOUSEBUILDER Barratt Homes has unveiled how the former Eli Lilly factory has transformed during its redevelopment in a time lapse video.

The popular landmark, now renamed The White Building, has been redeveloped into 96 one and two-bedroom apartments, forming part of the housebuilder’s Chapel Gate development .

The original factory building was known for its classic Art Deco entrance and windows and was designed by notable pre-war industrial architect Arthur George Porri.

Following a careful restoration by Barratt Southern Counties, the housebuilder has completed works on the building’s exterior, and can now reveal its new look.

Lynnette St-Quintin, sales and marketing director for Barratt Southern Counties, said: “We are really excited to finally unveil the White Building and are extremely proud of the work that has gone into lovingly restoring such an iconic Basingstoke landmark.

“Throughout the works, we have been careful to preserve the original features where possible, and the building still features its Art Deco entrance and windows. We have even been able to preserve some of the brickwork, with the top floor loft-style apartments featuring some original industrial-chic brick finish to the walls."
