PRINCE Andrew's recent car crash of an interview about his association with a convicted paedophile must have been very upsetting for his mum.

The poor woman has had to put up with all sorts of embarrassing moments throughout her reign. Her husband has cracked more sick jokes than a lousy comedian, and her son, Charles, showed us all how to have an affair before, during, and after a marriage, with someone other than his wife.

But this current scandal does seem to be the worst so far. Andrew would have been far better off to have stuck to that old saying, "Least said soonest mended", in other words keep your mouth shut!"

The Queen has always conducted herself in the most gracious manner. She has been the only monarch I have ever known, as I was four when she became Queen.

Her presence as the head of state for all those years has been reassuring. She is one of those very few things in life that you can rely on. Always cool, calm, and collected, she brings with her, wherever she goes, real elegance and that very essence of royalty.

I don't think we will ever see her like again.

Long live the Queen, because once she's gone I hate to think what will happen.
