FIREFIGHTERS from Basingstoke were amongst the many crews in attendance to tackle a blaze in Aldershot High Street this morning (Wednesday), which has since been brought under control.
The fire service was called at 3.30am to reports of a fire at a building in the high street, believed to be a car wash.
A spokesperson for the service has since confirmed the building was "fully destroyed" by the flames.
An investigation is currently being carried out into the cause of the fire, although the fire service noted that there was a gas cylinder that exploded in the building.
Crews from Rushmoor, Guildford, Farnham, Fleet, Camberley and Alton were also in attendance.
They remained at the scene for a number of hours as they battled to prevent the flames from spreading to adjoining buildings.
The fire was eventually extinguished using two hose reels, four jets, compressed airfoam solution and 12 breathing apparatus, with the stop call coming in at 5.40am.

Aldershot High Street has since been reopened, although the fire investigation team will remain at the scene during the day.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service added that a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder exploded in the building affected by the fire, however a full investigation into the cause is still being carried out.
