A freight train has derailed coming out of a station, blocking the line between Basingstoke and Eastleigh.
The incident is expected to cause major disruption to train services across the region.
The British Transport Police say no injuries have been reported.
A tweet from Network Rail Wessex said the incident would affect services between London Waterloo, Southampton, Bournemouth and Weymouth.
The tweet said: "We've had a report of a freight train derailing at Eastleigh.
"One of our local managers will be attending the scene, and there will be more info when we receive it.
On scene at Eastleigh following a freight train derailment. No one injured. Disruption likely for rest of the day. Avoid the area if possible.

National Rail says it is investigating a "problem" at Eastleigh.
In a tweet, National Rail said: "A problem currently under investigation at Eastleigh is causing disruption to journeys through the station.
