ONE person has been hospitalised with “serious injuries” after a crash on the A34 near Whitchurch.

The incident took place just before midday today (Monday).

Police say that a car and a lorry were involved in a crash on the northbound carriageway.

The driver of the car was later taken to hospital with serious injuries, according to officers.

South Central Ambulance Service has been contacted for more on the situation.

The road was completely blocked while emergency services attended. Crews from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were also at the scene.

One lane was eventually reopened this afternoon, and the road is now open as usual with traffic back to normal levels.
