A MAN ‘defecated in a prison cell’ after being arrested on suspicion of possessing an old-fashioned pistol, a court heard.

Frankie Owens, 45, from Hayling Island, Hampshire, is on trial accused of committing eight offences.

Basingstoke Magistrates' Court heard how on March 30, Owens has allegedly avoided paying for his fuel on three occasions.

The assailant flouted another fuel payment of £16.72 at West Kingsclere Filling Station, on the A339 and avoided paying £13.53 at Sutton Scotney Services.

He was also found in possession of a kitchen knife.

The court heard how Owens damaged a police van and chair in Basingstoke police station, after defecating and urinating in a prison cell, prompting a professional clean to have to take place.

The 45-year-old also faces another charge of failing to let police breathalyse him.

Lastly, Owens was found in possession of an imitation firearm, an old-fashioned pistol, at Kingsclere, with intent to harm someone.

Owens remains in custody and District Judge, Timothy Pattinson, will hear his plea on April 2.
