Braving the windy weather, Kathleen set herself the goal to make as many people smile as possible when she took to the grassed verge of Crookham Common Road, last week.

Using her mobility walker to prop up a sign reading, 'Keep smiling and safe', Kathleen could be spotted waving at drivers.

And her set up delighted the founder of Basingstoke charity Spotlight who shared photographs of Kathleen to social media.

Michaela Riley took to Facebook to write: "This lady made me really smile today whilst we were out sort out food parcels. Sat in the cold at the side of the road waving and smiling at all drivers going past.

"What a kind hearted lady who really deserves to be recognise. We ended up turning around and going to say thank you to her. Thank you Kathleen, she was like a little angel."
