SHOPPERS are furious that Zara will be closing its branch in Basingstoke.

The Gazette previously reported that the Spanish fashion giant confirmed it will be shutting down its Festival Place branch for good.

Inditex, the owner of the high street retailer, previously warned in March that the pandemic has had a "very significant impact" on its operations.

Since Zara announced its closure, Fran Cacace wrote on Twitter: "Zara's closing in Basingstoke? What's the point in living?"

Molly Charteris commented: "Best believe it when I say I’ll never be back in Basingstoke after seeing that Zara has closed down."

Other social media users vented their anger about the store closing and said: "I've just seen this, I'm so upset", "fuming!" and "Zara's the only reason I ever went to Festival Place to be honest".

The news comes after the owner of Zara has closed 3,785 stores globally following the outbreak of coronavirus.
