A MEMBER of the school community at Rucstall Primary in Black Dam has tested positive for coronavirus.

According to the Hampshire County Council website, the positive case was recorded yesterday, November 30.

A small number of children who have been in close contact with the individual who tested positive have now been told to self-isolate for 14 days.

A letter sent to parents confirmed the news: “We have been made aware of a member of our school community who has tested positive for COVID 19."

The letter continues: “We know you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Heath England.”

The school remains open and the states all children should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.

Rucstall is one of 15 schools to report a positive coronavirus case in the last fortnight.

Basingstoke currently has the largest number of schools on the Hampshire County Council Covid list, which does not include Southampton and Portsmouth.

Seven of these reported at least one positive case of coronavirus on Thursday November 26.
