A woman in her twenties suffered injuries to her face, head and hand in an assault at the Riverdene Pub on Monday.

Police arrived at the pub, located on Windrush Close, at 9.30pm.

Residents had reported anti-social behaviour in the pub garden.

In a statement, Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called at approximately 9.30pm to a report of an assault at the Riverdene, Basingstoke.

"A woman in her 20s suffered minor injuries to her hand, face and head.

"This incident is currently under investigation and officers are conducting enquiries to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.

"Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 44210138365."

Pubs reopened for the first time since December on April 12 as lockdown restrictions eased.

Also, non-essential retail and outdoor hospitality was able to reopen.

It is part of Boris Johnson's roadmap out of lockdown, which he says is "cautious and irreversible".

The next stage of the roadmap, currently due for May 17, are set to see restrictions on social distancing around family members relaxed and gatherings of up to 30 people outdoors.

Indoor hospitality, entertainment and internal tourism are also set to get the green light, should the four tests be met.
