LAW Commissioner Professor Nick Hopkins – who is spearheading a major review of leasehold reform – will be among the panellists at a Southampton Question Time co-organised by Coles Miller Solicitors.

Professor Hopkins is spearheading radical reforms to enhance the rights of leasehold flat owners. Plans announced earlier this month include greater rights to buy the freehold or extend the lease.

Panellists at the Leasehold Management Professionals (LMP) Question Time on October 11 will also include Institute of Residential Property Management (IRPM) CEO Andrew Bulmer.

LMP was founded last year by Coles Miller; Block Accountants, Southampton; Deacon, Bournemouth; Evolve Block & Estate Management, Ringwood.

Coles Miller Partner Matthew Lewis said: “We are extremely fortunate to have been able to gather together such a distinguished team of panellists – and the timing could not be better with the latest announcement on leasehold reform.

“It shows how LMP – originally set up as a regional organisation – is starting to get noticed at a national level. This was always the aim and it remains so,” added Matthew, who heads the law firm’s team of residential leasehold solicitors.

The event, which runs from 11.30am to 5pm at the Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel, will be sponsored by chartered building surveyors Earl Kendrick Associates, maintenance service Nirvana and block management software provider Resident. It will raise money for the property industry charity LandAid.
