A CARE home group has been lauded for its fundraising efforts.

Basing View-based Hartford Care was the winner of the Best Fundraising Event at the inaugural Care Workers Charity Awards.

Hartford Care were recognised thanks to its abseil challenge at the Emirates Spinnaker Tower, in Portsmouth, which involved six people from the business and the efforts of its senior management which embarked on a five-day trek across the remote highlands of Iceland.

Additional fundraising events and activities have been organised by the group of 14 care homes in the south, raising close to £14,000 for the Care Workers Charity in nearly two years.

Hartford Care chief executive officer Sean Gavin said: "It feels great to know that our fundraising efforts have been recognised by the charity.

"We recognise and value the dedication and commitment by all our staff and felt that this charity would be a way to shine a light on this as well supporting anyone who may run into hardship.

"We look forward to sharing and celebrating this great news with staff, residents, relatives and family carers.

Richard Muncaster, the chief executive officer of The Care Workers Charity, said: “I warmly congratulate all of the winners. Your dedication and commitment in helping CWC grow and be heard doesn’t just produce fantastic results, it changes lives”.
