A NEW video showing what Southampton will look like after a multi-million pound makeover has been released.

Developers have published a video showing what the Leisure World site, off West Quay Road,  will look like after a £250m investment.

As previously reported, a total of 650 homes, two 150-room hotels, 80 serviced hotel apartments, new restaurants and offices, a cinema and a casino would be built at the site.

The scheme is set to create more than 1,000 jobs in the city and will be developed in phases with work expected to start in 2022.

Sovereign Centros, the development company behind the project, said the work will be part of the revamp of the so-called Mayflower Quarter – the area between Southampton Central Railway Station and the Mayflower Park.

The names of the hotel operators at the Leisure World site are yet to be confirmed but developers said they are targeting a four-star occupier for the first hotel and a more business-focused operator for the second.

As reported, the first phase of the scheme will see a cinema, a casino, restaurants and one of the two hotels being built along West Quay Road.

The new offices and 325 homes will be built as part of phase two while a further 325 homes and the second 150-room hotel will be built as part of phase three.

Meanwhile, health and wellness facilities will be built as part of the last phase of the scheme, the developer said.

A new square, green spaces and walkways are also expected to be built as part of the project.

The public consultation launched at the end of May will close on June 12.

A planning application is expected to be submitted to Southampton City Council in July. For the consultation visit leisureworldsouthampton.co.uk
