THE organisers of TEDxSouthampton have launched a final appeal for speakers to come forward.

The TEDx event – an independently organised take on the famous TED conferences – is due to take place on Wednesday, November 1, in the city centre.

The closing date for applications potential potential speakers is 5pm on Friday June 12.

TEDxSouthampton co-curator Annelies James said: “So far we’ve been thrilled by the standard of people wanting to speak but we need to make sure that we’ve given everyone the very best opportunity to get in touch. The theme of the event will be centred around human to human connection in all its forms and include a focus on innovation, connectedness and untapping personal potential.

“Speeches must present a solution or inspiration, rather than a problem and above all it must be short and focused and last no more than 18 minutes. It’s important that each speaker is thoroughly rehearsed and has memorised their talk.”

The event will feature 12 talks and performances, as well as an opportunity to network.

Auditions are to be held virtually throughout July an those wishing to apply should email Annelies James at hello@anneliesjames.uk. They will need to submit a synopsis of the proposed talk and a brief video explaining or showcasing the talk content.
