WARRENS Office has become the latest local organisation to sign up to the Winchester Declaration on Climate Change.

The declaration is a pledge to cut carbon emissions and so reduce the local impact on global warming.

The declaration follows work conducted by Winchester District Strategic Partnership and Winchester Action on Climate Change to cut the carbon footprint of Winchester by 20 per cent by the end of 2012.

Already signed up is the city council, university, Winchester College, Winchester Area Community Action, and Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust.

Kelsie Learney, Leader of Winchester City Council, said: “We’re delighted that local organisations such as Warrens Office are signing up to the Declaration on Climate Change. We all need to work together to lower our carbon emissions and lead the way in taking a more responsible approach to energy use. I hope that other local businesses will join us in helping to reduce our District’s carbon footprint over the next two years.”

Paul Morgan, managing director of Warrens Office, said: “Over the last 18 months we have moved the environment to the top of our agenda. With 25 staff based at Winnall, we have the ability to make a real difference locally to the way we trade.”
