ROMSEY’S MP is to officially open the Environment Agency’s new offices in the town.
Sandra Gidley will cut the ribbon on Monday morning at the purpose-built eco-friendly offices at Canal Walk.
Features of the new building includes rainwater collecting devices, with all the liquid harvested used to wash floors. Under-floor hot-water heating systems have been built into the environmentally-friendly project. Energy-saving lighting has also been installed.
Environment Agency area manager, James Humphrys, said: “It is crucial that we help set new standards on environment performance.
This project clearly demonstrates how organisations can work with developers to build exceptional offices which meet their needs by reducing the impact on the environment.” More than 50 Environment Agency staff has relocated to from Romsey from the organisation’s Colden Common offices.
