A PERSON is fighting for their life following a serious collision involving a motorcyclist and a car on the A272.

Emergency services were called to the stretch of road between Cheesefoot Head and Cheriton at 12.15pm yesterday (Tuesday).

The collision was between a white Triumph motorcycle and grey Renault Captur. The rider of the motorbike, a 74-year-old man, from Waterlooville, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Renault also received minor injuries.

An ambulance service spokesperson said: “We had on scene our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), two ambulance officers, two ambulance crews and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance assessing and treating three patients.”

The road between Petersfield Road and Cheesefoot Head car park was closed since the crash, while emergency services deal with the scene.
