RYAN Bertrand is an injury doubt for Saturday’s match against Bournemouth.

The Saints defender picked up a knock on his ankle during the draw with Watford, which led to manager Ralph Hasenhuttl suggesting he may be unable to play this weekend.

Hasenhuttl said: “Jannik [Vestergaard] is not [fit] that’s for sure but I think we have another few problems.

Ryan Bertrand has got a hit on his ankle and this is maybe also a question.

“Matt Targett is back in team training and that is good for us because he is the substitute for him.”

Stuart Armstrong’s fitness is also in question ahead of the weekend.

The Scottish international started against Watford but was substituted midway through the second half.

Shane Long joined his teammate in coming off early after he hobbled down the tunnel at Vicarage Road, having set the new Premier League fastest goal record in the first half.

“There are a few other smaller injuries,” added Hasenhuttl.

“Stuart Armstrong has a little bit of a problem with his hamstring and Shane [Long] is fit I think. He trained today but he had a little bit of a problem in the end of the game against Watford.

“It’s good that he can play at the weekend.”
