SAINTS U18s will play Arsenal or Cheltenham Town in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup after winning 3-1 at Bristol Rovers last night.
Alex Jankewitz opened the scoring and Sam Bellis netted a brace, following a goalless first half at the Memorial Stadium, before Zain Walker scored a consolation for the home side.
Saints’ Caleb Watts missed an open goal in the 16th minute, but the impressive Jankewitz tapped in a James Morris’ cross in the 47th minute.
Ten minutes later, Bellisz doubled the lead with a penalty after being brought down by James Gorman.
He added another in the 74th minute, rounding goalkeeper Thomas-Baker to complete a fine team goal.
Saints goalkeeper Jack Bycroft was finally beaten from the edge of the box in the 82nd minute.
Saints U18s coach Paul Hardyman said: “I felt the way we moved the ball about in the first half was going to tire them out, they were doing a lot of running without the ball.
“In the second half gaps opened up, we found passes easier and capitalised.”
SAINTS: Bycroft, Keogh, Morris, Chauke, Kpohomouh (Tchaptchet 66), Bailey, Rus (Mitchell 73), Jankewitz, Bellis, Watts (Turner 77), Olaigbe.
