Spurs are said to be keen on landing Hojbjerg this summer, with the St Mary's captain having just one year remaining on his current deal.

Walker-Peters joined Saints on loan in January to fill the void vacated by Cedric, who joined Arsenal until the end of the season.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bruce, son of Newcastle manager Steve Bruce, reckons the two clubs should do a part-exchange once the transfer window opens.

He said: “I like Hojbjerg, he’s competitive, he’s a combative midfielder and that would obviously help Tottenham so he’d be a good one for them.

“The coaches at Spurs and that will know what they’ve got and sometimes they can be a little bit of traffic on the old motorway and you can’t find your way into the team because it clogged up.

“If he [Walker-Peters] can go to another Premier League team, get his game time, that will be beneficial to him as well because he’s definitely a prospect.” 

As well as Spurs' reported interest, fellow top-flight side Everton are also said to want to buy Hojbjerg this summer.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder recently signed with 'super-agent' Pini Zahavi.

Zahavi was the man behind Cedric's loan move to Arsenal in January in a deal that surprised plenty of supporters - especially as the Gunners paid a fee and took on 100 per cent of is wages.
