NEW Eastleigh winger Tom Blair will tap into the knowledge of former Saints and England striker Kevin Davies after sealing a move to the Spitfires.

Blair last month agreed a long-term contract at Eastleigh after signing from Southern League Dorchester Town, saying his “dream had become a reality” in sealing his first professional contract.

Davies, who is now a football agent after retiring from playing, scouted Blair at Dorchester’s Avenue Stadium and helped facilitate the 21-year-old’s deal at Silverlake Stadium.

While admitting he was initially starstruck by the former Premier League ace, who played more than 100 times for Saints across two spells, Blair says having Davies in his corner is a “massive boost”.

He said: “For me knowing him now, I’ve gone past the point of ‘oh my God, it’s Kevin Davies’.

“Growing up I was watching him and it’s weird he represents me. It’s a massive advantage for me.

“Just having his calibre it makes a huge difference and he’s helped me massively.

“Not just getting the move, but since he started working with me he’s given me tips on the pitch and all those things have added up to get where I am now.

“We’re both attacking players and we can bounce off each other in that aspect.

“It’s not just on the pitch, he can help me off the pitch and he knows so many people. His network is massive and he gives support in fitness aspects.

“He helps in every way, which is a massive boost for me.”

Blair added: “He’s moved down to Poole and I’ve caught his eye playing in a game he was working in. He’s got good connections at Eastleigh and he dropped my name in the mix.”
