MOHAMMED Salisu could make his long-awaited Saints debut during Monday night's clash with Brighton.

The defender has not featured for the club since joining for a fee believed to be £10.9million from Real Valladolid in August.

Speaking on November 20, boss Ralph Hasenhuttl told the Daily Echo “there is still a way to go" before he would consider Salisu "match fit".

But after overcoming injury and fitness issues, the 21-year-old could be in contention against the Seagulls.

"Salisu is coming back now and is also maybe part of the squad for the weekend (against Brighton)," said Hasenhuttl.

"We must have a look how far he is. Then we have more alternatives, this is good for me."

Asked if Salisu has made big strides in the past couple of weeks in training, Hasenhuttl added: "Yes, definitely. He looks good now and hopefully he stays fit now and he’s available for the next games because now comes a very busy period and we need every player now."

Another player who could return to action is Nathan Redmond.

The winger has missed the past two matches due to a hamstring problem.

"Reddy is also coming back today," said Hasenhuttl.

"Let’s have a look how it is. It gives me maybe a few more alternatives on the weekend."
