30 members took part in Wellow Tennis Club’s last event of 2023 – their annual Christmas tournament with many dressed appropriately for the occasion.
Although primarily a social event with Christmas fare in large supply the tournament provided a minimum of three short sets of tennis for all those participating.
Following the preliminary rounds the four top ladies and four top men played two semi-finals to determine the two pairs who contested the final. In a final set of some high quality mixed doubles Cathy Tarvin and Symon Blowers emerged victorious over the returning Jacquie Crowley and guest James Entwistle.
The event was run superbly by club secretary Simone Arnott ably assisted by Cathy Tarvin and brought the curtain down on another very successful year for the club which looks forward to 2024 and many more league matches and well attended club sessions over the rest of the winter before the summer season starts again at the beginning of April.
