Romsey Town FC have announced former Saint Nicky Banger as commercial manager effectively from January 1.

Nicky has a great depth of experience both on and off the pitch, a career which covered over 300 games, scoring 98 goals for Saints, Oxford Utd, Plymouth Argyle, Oldham Athletic and Dundee, before returning South as player/coach for Eastleigh. It was there that he took on the commercial role during Eastleigh's most successful period in their rise to the Conference South.

Nicky is widely known in local business circles and has done some great work for local charities. His arrival at the club gives him the opportunity to link up once again with new Romsey Town adviser Clive Wilson, who Nicky worked with at Eastleigh.

Initially, Nicky's role will be strictly off the park, but he hopes to get himself in shape and, who knows, could be seen turning out for Town before the end of the season.

Clive Wilson said: "Nicky is a major piece of the Romsey Town jigsaw puzzle to ensure the club goes forward. The establishment of a commercial manager will enable us to take every opportunity in promoting the club both on and off the field.

"Networking with local business and giving them the opportunity to play a major role in the club's development is vital to it's future."

Nicky will initially be working from SES Autoparts' new Head Office in Romsey.
