Mountbatten School's Year 10 football team completed a memorable League and Cup Double when they beat Springfield School in a tight encounter.

The first goal came on the half hour mark when, after a period of good football, an incisive pass put the rapid Bradley Awuah-Peasah through on goal and he confidently rounded the keeper to put Mountbatten one up.

They quickly doubled their lead when Nathan Sahota curled a delightful free-kick into the top corner from 25 yards.

Unfortunately, the half ended on a sour note, when an ugly clash resulted in a red card for a Springfield defender.

However, this seemed to galvanise the trailing team. With Mountbatten looking fatigued and several players carrying injuries, Springfield took full advantage and a header from a corner halved the deficit.

But after 70 minutes a breakaway by Mountbatten resulted in Paul Taylor smashing the ball home to make it 3-1. Springfield pulled another back but it was Mountbatten who claimed the glory, and by doing so, became the first ever Mountbatten team to have won the Hampshire Cup twice.
