A RESIDENT at a retirement village in Romsey has marked his 100th birthday.

Ken Peters celebrated the milestone with family and friends at Grove Place Retirement Village on March 15.

Ken is one of the last few surviving veterans of World War II.

He served in the Royal Signals between 1940 and 1946 and saw action in Holland and Belgium.

Ken and his wife Ruth celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year.

The came to live at Grove Place 11 years ago.

Head concierge at the retirement village Nika Sobova-Singh said that everybody at the retirement village wished him a happy birthday.

She said: "We want to wish him a very happy 100th birthday from everybody here at Grove Place. He is a very lovely man and he was very excited for his 100th birthday."
